That’s the rule, according to most pets, and it’s no different around the Mdzananda Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha, South Africa.
Promise, one of the clinic’s animal welfare assistants, has been well trained by the dogs that visit the clinic. There is no such thing as “yours,” especially when it comes to food.
The animal welfare assistants are the backbone of the clinic. They are on the front lines, educating the people in the township, assessing the health of the animals brought to the clinic, assisting in surgery and vaccinating hundreds of pets each week at the mobile clinics.
They work closely with the clinic’s veterinarians to ensure each animal gets the best care possible. But more than that, they make sure each one gets the love and attention (and snacks) they deserve.
